Happy Monday!

Well happy Monday.  I have had a OK weekend end.  I ended up working.  That sucked but I got to hang out with some good friends.  I however was lazy and did not crochet anything this weekend but I did make a beef stew that rocked.  After I fed the guys here at work, I had very little left.

Oh, I am working on a quilt.  I have started pinning my blocks together.  Will keep you updated on that.

Been A While

I wanted to stop in and say I'm so sorry its been a while.  This year has been a rough one for me.  I got divorced, then found out that the woman my husband is now with is pregnant.  He and I couldn't have children.  He keep telling me he didn't want them and I ended up having to have a hysterectomy.  I was upset for a little while but I think I've gotten over it.  I know that one day I will be blessed with children, either through adoption or maybe i'll meet a man with kids.

I have been crocheting my butt off as Christmas is drawing closer.  I am giving hand made gifts this year for Christmas.  Hats and scarves for the kids.  Throws for the adults.  And I have gotten on the ball for next year.  I have decided to do quilts next year.  I found a pattern for a Bandana Quilt over at dollarstorecrafts.com .  I think I love that web site.    http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2009/06/bandanna-quilt/

I will start my first one as soon as I get my last crochet hat made.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Back from a short vacation

My sister and her family invited me to go with them on vacation.  It was a free trip so I said yes.  I have been dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life and decided a break would be good.  We went to her in-laws house in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.  I had never been there and had a blast.

We went to the beach one day.  Took the kids to a water park one day.  My sister and I slipped of and when to Gulfport to a bead store called, The Bead Shack.  It was awesome.  I will be making the trip back over there for sure. I have a necklace to make out of some beautiful turquoise to make.  I will work on that soon cause I want to wear that to a wedding in two weeks.

I also did some crocheting on the trip.  I found some fun fuzzy yarn and decorated some flip flops for my self, my sister, and her daughters.  They turned out very nicely.  I am also working on some lace trim handkerchiefs that I started on the trip.  I wanted to take something to work on that was small and would not take up a lot of room.

And the day before we left we went to New Orleans and went to the Zoo.  It was awesome.  I had never been to the Audubon Zoo.  I truly enjoyed it.

Baby Blanket

So my sister wants summer time baby blankets made.  I told her she is going to have to wait until I get at least one project done.  I am working on Kata Squares and Granny squares right now.  I have only so many hours in a day.  I also found a pattern for a circled blank that is awesome and I so want to try it it.  So little time and so many things I want to make.

Finished Ear Warmer Project

So I found this cute Head Warmer pattern here. and decided to try it.  So as I sat watching the Super Bowl I tried it.  It was so easy to do.  I love it.  It looks great on too. Thank you Daperfectmix for posting the pattern.

Cold, Cops, and Crochet

Louisiana like most of the USA is being battered by winter weather.  Tonight we had snow, it melted as soon as it hit the ground but it was still snow.  All the trees, power lines, and roof tops are all glistening with ice, it very beautiful.

I cooked from my cops tonight.  I made chicken and sausage gumbo. They each ate two huge bowls so I think I did a good job.  We are planning on have a super bowl party here at work Sunday night. I just hope that we have no major calls during that time.  I would hate one of my boys getting upset about having to miss the rest of the game.

So I am sitting here at work taking a small break from dispatching and crocheting.  The pattern I am working on is a throw.  The pattern calls for large tassels on the corners but I am going to have to pass on the tassels.  The cats will kill them.  I know this because one of my cat boys ate the pomp pom off my house booties.

The colors I am using is colonial blue and painted desert.  At first I was not sure if I like them together.  I love each color separately.  But as the throw starts to get larger I am liking them.  I think it will go great in my den.
Well I guess I need to get back to work.

P.S. I think I will be making a head band tomorrow night.  I will let you know how that comes out.

Sweet Memories

My grandfather passed away last last month, he will be missed. In going through the thing at his house we have found boxes upon boxes of pictures. My sisters and I have been scanning them on to the computer. We plan to share them with the rest of the family.

I have been amazed at some of the pictures we have found. Pictures of my grandmother dance studio. Pictures of grandpa at his farm with his cattle. Pictures of my grandparents, mom, and my aunts at the beach. Pictures of birth's and funerals; of parties and Christmas, so many pictures that tell a story. Sweet, sweet memories.
